Future Mustang Generations

In 2011 Ford is overhauling the powertrains on both V6 and V8 models. A 3.7L V6 from the
Mazda CX-9 is replacing the archaic 4.0L V6 that made 210 hp.

The GT is receiving a 5.0L V8 dubbed 'Coyote' Ford Modular engine. This engine packs 32-valves; twin, independent variable valve timing and an 11:1 compression ratio. This engine will be an all aluminum design and preliminarily said to make 412HP and 390ft-lbs of torque. The 2011 Mustang is also getting electronic power assisted steering.

According to the car magazine Motor Trend, a redesigned Mustang is planned for the 50th anniversary of the first Mustang in 2014.
